Organising Your Pantry

Jun 22, 2022

Organising the pantry is no easy task as it can be time consuming but the benefits of a clean, well-organised pantry are worth the hassle.
A neatly arranged pantry makes it easier to find items, improves functionality and makes keeping the space clean easier for all family members.

What you’ll need:

  • Clear storage containers (different sizes, square or rectangular)
  • Baskets
  • Labels
  • Marker
  • Cleaning detergents

3 Easy steps to a more organised pantry

  1. Start of by clearing the pantry throwing out expired items then give your pantry a thorough clean, top to bottom using nontoxic eco-friendly detergents.
  2. Next, categorise your food (oils, canned goods, dry ingredients etc). Empty dry food from its original packaging and repack into your clear storage containers. Storing your food in containers makes your pantry look uniform, neat, and well organised. For things like snacks that cannot be repackaged, neatly pack them into baskets. Make sure to label each container, making note of the use by date.
  3. Lastly, you can start packing your food away making sure items are being place in the right category. Make sure you place all the heavy items like water, juice and maybe even canned goods on the bottom shelves. If you don’t have a lot of space, you can stack your containers neatly. This way you can fit more items on the same shelf.

*To maintain order in your pantry, keep items accessible and visible and ensure you put items back in their spot after use.

It is important to clean your pantry at least once a month. This will help with restocking of food items on time and keeping the space clean and neat.
